How many people do know about the match-making business between North Korean women and South Korean men?? How many Koreans do know about its existence? I didn't! TIME has an article about it last week. It says there are few agents between them. Oh no, it's not what you think though. They are agents to connect refugees from North Korea with South Korean men. The article says some prefers to marry to South Korean man to settle quicker and to feel secure - very understandable! Interestingly, the article says "The most envied ones in North Korea today are those who have relatives in the South and get remittances". Somehow, we might get united through unexpected way! Who knows?! Oh, Nam Nam Buk Nyo means handsome guys are from the South and beautiful girls are from the North. A Single Man

Yup, he's a great actor.. Who doesn't think so? Colin Firth... Man.. he's done again! The movie itself? Well, if you haven't seen any Kar Wai Wang's movies you would definitely think this is such a beautiful film with great sound tracks. However if you have seen few of his films, you would wonder if this is a Hollywood version of Wang's movie - in particular, in terms of sound tracks. Then again, it was very well made film with great camera, color and music.. of course, without Colin it wouldn't get four out of five stars. You need to feel what he feels through his face. One of workmates is very creative. Look at what she's created! The other day she made 50 (or 60) cupcakes with various toppings! Goodness me! Some are very created and passionate! Love that passion and enthusiasm!

Shutter Island

Aghhhhhh... I don't want to believe how the story intends to tell! I want to believe my ending!! It's not true! I cannot tell you the story because I don't want to get rid of 'the moment'. First of all, John Travolta is a great actor, secondly I loved the Audi driver and finally I was so disappointed. All you see is John Travolta's brand new hair style (it suits him very well) and lots of violent scenes (sometimes you get confused if this is some kinda HK movies).. Equus

It's been a while since I saw this play. I liked it and enjoyed a lot. As we all know it's a dark depressing and quiet play. I experienced cultural shock though - my jaw was dropped as actors got naked on stage... It wasn't like that in Korea before.. Oh well, I wasn't very comfortable so I looked around but no one seems to be on my side! haahaa... Nothing much is happening at theaters in Perth... so it was great to see it. I'm going to see Chicago next month.. Hopefully Perth gets more good events in theaters! The image is from http://images.google.com.au

Azure

Whoa! What a wonderful to be! Awesome decoration, great food, pleasant service... It was Tuesday night and they offer $18.00 main special. We had salad and salmon. It was big enough to share unless you are a two BIG MAG person! I like the way they cook the salmon - not over done but cooked inside tender - very! The salad was super duper good. Full body olive oil was used for dressing and it was a mixture of warm (grilled or steamed) vegies, fresh green leaves and nuts. It was just right! yum yum... perfect summer dinner at the garden

Anne always makes things simple but awesome. Nothing looks super-duper-preparation-required food but nothing looks too humble either. It was a dinner with her friends from Port Headland and I was invited to meet them. I know I'm lucky! We had roasted pumpkin and spinach salad with pine nuts, marinated chicken with mango chutney, vegetarian cannelloni, potato salad and turkish bread heated from bbq. She's a great cook but the greatest thing of her cooking is things are very well matched. Her food is always great because she is creative and enjoys to fulfill her creation... if she cooks just to feed her family, it might have been different! :) Her family must be feeling so lucky! Anyway, I had another great time at her place with very delightful people!

WASO Concert 2009

Another WASO summer concert with the cannon and the Bell Tower! As usual, it was good except the city council permits some noisy function right in front of the esplanade where the concert was on. Oh well, it was bloody noisy!!! Obviously the city council love 'fusion' environment if you ever call that's fusion..!

The Witch's Cauldron Restaurant

The last Christmas function in 2009 was a team building lunch at the Witch's Cauldron Restaurant. It's well known for garlic prawns so seven of us had garlic prawns for entree! geeee... It was good! I had dhufish for main and it was good but wasn't fabulous. The dessert, a baked cheese cake was awesome! It's not too rich but cheesy enough! Espresso was good too! But I wouldn't go back there. Birthday girl

I rarely get invited for kids' birthdays.. I don't get very excited with an invitation for those parties tho! Anyway, I went for Holly's second birthday party at Burswood Park. There were plenty of incredibly yummy home-made food, lots of friendly people and kids (awwww...).. It was fun though as I somehow talked to many people there and took photos here and there. I'm not a good photographer but I like this photo. It remind me of my old photo taken by mom. She took lots of photo when I was little while she wasn't working. It's funny I took somehow a similar shot... although Holly is much prettier than me!

Little Stove

Far far away from where I live... Bicton... It's very close to Point Walter. Well, It seems like a very popular neighborhood cafe. People seem to know each other and waiters know customers, which I quite like.. My friend and I had coffee only - I had a soy-cino and my friend had a black coffee. Coffee was so good - especially the cappuccino with soy milk was excellent. I like its decoration a lot. I would say it's more like 'bigger version of Lincon Street Cafe'.. but it's brighter and much spacious.

Christmas dinner

This year, our Christmas party had a theme - Krampus night! Right... Do you wanna know what it is? Google it..! Anyway, I was told to be dressed like a devil... Ha! I don't need to dress something particular then, do I?? All those weird wigs, horns and devil tails... and finally a swiss couple showed up in fantastic costumes! Gosh... I cannot put their photos here but it was fabulous! haahaa.. We had Krampus devil food and drink... It was another great night at Roleystone with an awesome sunset and great people!

chocolate potato chips

This is a sin! I've never seen this in my life... never even been able to imagine this! Chocolate coated potato chips?? We are crazy, aren't we? Today at work, a General Manager brought us a pack of chocolate potato chips. He mentioned it's the very famous Japanese one from Hokkaido - Royce. Goodness me... ! Pay What You Think It's Worth

C Restaurant is located at the top of this tall building and it revolves offering the whole Perth view while you are having meal! C Restaurant is offering special lunch, "Pay What You Think It's Worth" till the end of Nov and few workmates decided adventure it! Well, I think it's unique location brings more customers than its food, service or decoration. Food was OK. I had Grilled Exmouth prawns, garlic and herb butter, potato saffron pave with tomato and fennel concasse for entree and Crispy skinned saltwater Barramundi fillet, caponata vegetables, lemon basil aioli. The portion was good but food wasn't that impressive. It wasn't superb... or maybe I was expecting too much? Go and try! The image is from http://local.my247.com.au

Restaurant Bouchard

What a beautiful weather for the beautiful lunch on Friday! At work, we had a lunch at the French restaurant, Bouchard. It's located near King's Park along with all those expensive mansions. First, we tried three different wine - one French, one NZ and one Aussie. I must say the French white was perfect for this Friday lunch but the Australian red was impressive! Food was fabulous.. I thought French food would be heavy and creamy but oh no,, I was so wrong! It was light and so delicate! How can you not love this kind of food! I had Poached Scallop Pillow, Celeriac Ravioli, Pea Purée, Crisp Parmesan for entree, Pan Fried Barramundi, Braised Fennel, Star Anise & Saffron Broth for main and Passion Fruit Soufflé, Yoghurt Sorbet, Candied Macadamia for dessert! Oh well, the portion is amazingly small but for me it was more than enough. If you are hungry you probably need to order Sautéed Kipfler Potatoes, Herbed Butter - it was indeed a full of carbo to die for! I'm not really a fan of scallop but this was just tasty. The barramundi was so tender and juicy, and the salad was super! Goodness me! The dessert... was too sweet for me and coffee was too bitter and hot. I think what makes the food excellent at Bouchard is how they handle the food on the heat! everything was cooked/grilled/fried just right! Very nice! The image is from bouchard.com.au.

Alfred's Kitchen

Nothing was really special in terms of ingredients but my taste buds surely enjoyed their burgers! All ingredients seem very fresh and it wasn't greasy at all with no excess sauce or sodium. I tried a stake burger with cheese, a hamburger with cheese and bacon, and a lentil burger. Well, I will score the steak burger top and I must say the lentil burger wasn't impressive at all. I should have had its famous pea and ham soup.. oh well, next time... it's kinda interesting experience to wait for burgers standing right next to railroad. Well.. I quite liked it!
